The City of Calgary is already seeing the damage from exploring an Olympic bid. An initial $5 million spend became $30 million which has become $35.1 million.

Already, our City Council, civil service, citizens, and media’s attention are all diverted from what should be our real priorities:
Health Care
Economic diversification.

Another way to look at priorities is to consider the opportunity costs of hosting an Olympics — what else could be invested in through increasing debt by the City of Calgary, Alberta and Canada? What else should taxpayers’ dollars (est. taxpayer burden: $2.4 Billion) go towards?
