Today, Calgary City Council will vote if they should cease all work on perusing the 2026 Winter Olympic bid. Throughout the process there have been missteps, a lack of impartiality and public engagement. As well as a lot of information that is patently false regarding the economic returns and benefits the IOC brings to a host city. Now is simply not the time to engage in a relationship with the IOC, given their history of scandals, demonstrated cost overruns averaging 156% since 1960 and considering our provinces economic recovery and lack of investment in industry diversity.
